This article examines the origins of ethnonym-based toponyms in the Surkhandarya region, their historical and ethnic roots, as well as the processes of their formation. In particular, using the examples of village names such as Olachopon, Jobu, Sariq, and Chigatay, the study highlights the relationship between toponyms and ethnic composition, migration processes, ancient Turkic titles, and tribal structures. The results demonstrate that the toponymy of the region is based on a multi-layered historical foundation.
