Metal coordination polymers containing carboxylate ions as organic bridging ligands, due to their amazing structures and collective magnetic behavior, have attracted significant attention in recent years due to their advantages such as high dimensionality, optical activity, and thermal stability. the study of the synthesis methods, structures, and properties of metal coordination polymers reinforced with dicarbonate groups is particularly interesting, because “dicarboxylic acids have additional coordination opportunities for forming new types of polymers and oligomers, which can significantly affect the magnetic, optical, or catalytic properties of the final products.” Aromatic dicarboxlic acids, such as p-phthalic, m-phthalic, and o-phthalic acids, are widely used in the creation of coordination polymers. In particular, 3- and 4-nitro-p-toluic acids are widely used in the production chains of various commercial products such as pigments, dyes, plasticizers, and others. In this article, the synthesis and thermal analysis of the complex formed by 3-nitroftalic acid with Co(II) ions are studied.
