Central Asia has historically played a significant role in inter-civilizational interactions and cultural exchange, while its arid climate and ecological sensitivity make it an important region for studying human–environment relationships (Fig. 1). This study analyzes archaeobotanical, palynological, and stable isotope data obtained from the Jarqo‘ton site. The results indicate that after 4000 BCE, the agricultural system became more complex, and a drought event around 3.9 ka had a significant impact on oasis farming, leading to its transformation.
